Subject: Imaginative use of wide angle lenses. For the purpose of this competition set the rule at 20mm top end right down to fish eye.
This means the competition is not subject specific, you can enter landscapes, portraits, sport/action, natural history, even Christmassy images if you must. Oh, and also make 'em interesting, technically excellent and a joy to view
Basic rules: Must be taken on Pentax or related brands.
Deadline: Midnight GMT Sunday December 27.
And if you win you must decide next week's subject, judge it and pass comments on all the entries.
Best of luck.
David

A PM went out as usual to advise on the win and a reminder was sent this morning. If there's no response by Wednesday evening then other arrangements will be made.

It's a good time to remind everyone that if you enter the competitions, please be aware you might win and if you do then it's your responsibility to create and judge the new competition. When people don't we don't get as fair a chance to sort out entering the new one when it's posted late.
Best regards, John

Its sad this happens so often, sometimes with new members or first time competition entrants. I get the impression that some people enter the competitions without bothering to read the rules. In this competition I clearly stated that it was for the use of wide angle lenses and the winner was expected to set and judge the following week's. One of the pictures submitted was taken on a 300mm lens. I PM'd the photographer concerned but my message has yet to be opened.

It's a compromise David. I guess we have to realise that not everyone is as attentive, especially at Christmas, and it's all for fun, not run as a military exercise.

I'll give it till 5pm before posting a new competition.
Best regards, John

If the winner hasn't taken action within 48 hours of the competition close, why not invite the runner up to set it? If contact cannot be made to him/her then do as you are doing. It does seem JR is having to set quite A few of them lately!

In theory that's a good idea JAK, but the reason I don't do that is that when I've tried to the runner up often doesn't reply for some time, causing yet more delay. I also have some uncertainty about whether if we did that the competition might not go live immediately, wheras I know if I do it then it goes live straight away. Especially at this time of year, if we had to wait for IT to pick it up there would be a delay there till they checked in.

I think Wednesday evening is long enough to wait.
Best regards, John
