Wasp on kit lens

For lack of a decent macro lens, I tried how well the kit lens would behave at minimum distance. Not too bad, I think Hopefully, I will soon find the means for a proper f2.8/100 Pentax Macro.

K200D, ISO 800, 1/2000 at f/11. 18-55 mm MkII kit lens at 55 mm

It has certainly picked up the detail in the wings, that is for sure.

Looks like you got the DOF spot on. Well done!

Quality is difficult to determine because of the noise (or noise reduction).
Looks like you could have shot at 100iso quite comfortably.
Looks like a harmless hover fly, by the way.

The image is great but your ID of your subject is rubbish It's a hover fly, not a wasp or a bee.

Pardon my ignorance, Peter, lookin up the subject I learned that the hoverfly is called "flower fly" in Norwegian, and that one of its capabilities is to resemble a wasp. I cannot see if it has the false vein in its wing

So the title should read Hoverfly on kit lens. Unfortunately, change of title is beyond my powers.

That's really very good for the kit lens. Definitely a Hoverfly, looks like a female Eristalis lineata
