Wasp

have noticed quite a few summer/beach shots on here lately, well here is one wasp not to have around the ice cream.
It is a flower wasp


Very big and very hairy, lives in the rain-forest and lays it's eggs on scarab beetle grubs.

Impressive close ups, especially the second one.

Superb pictures but they are just a tad too good for my liking. Send a shiver down my spine. Wasps are one animal that makes me freak and jump around the place like a deranged fool.
He looks a mean blighter in that second photo. Wouldn't want to meet him down an alley on a hot summers day...
