War ... What is it good for?

Ok, not war as such but there was a re-enactment local to us at the weekend so wandered down to take a few pictures. As it happened I took a fair bit more than a few but there you go

K-5II and a mixture of the Pentax DA* 60-250mm, Sigma 100-300mm f4 and Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 OS.

Really good, love the 'texture' to the images and the overall atmosphere. Some real characters there by the look of things.

3,5 and 6 do it for me.

I've noticed with other costume events the overall effect is sometimes spoilt by modern eye wear. Not so here, coincidence or attention to detail?

Fabulous set Mike.

Thought you were never going to finish uploading them to Flickr

Enactments are an area I struggle with. I don't think I take believable shots. Probably because I think they often look a bit daft and I feel embarrassment for them.

These do look very belivable Mike, as does the bigger set on Flickr

Superb set! I guess "high clarity" was applied on several photos.

I am surprised you could move carrying all that heavy glass. Resulted in some great shots though, love the smoking gun shot myself.

Nice set, and I love no. 5 Mike. But the cloning in no. 6 is a bit obvious!

Oooh, that's terrible ... didn't realise it was so bad.

Thanks for that, am on it now.

Mind you, it's still better than the bloody great archery sign that was there.

Just treat it as nice "special bokeh" in the corner

They have a lovely 'pop' to them. Did you process using Topaz Adjust by any chance?

Yes but I mostly use the select tool in Elements to highlight just the main subject/s and use Topaz on just that part. Doing it that way leaves the grass and background looking more natural but the target pops.
