It depends on whether your father is interested in photography or not; by which I mean the E-series Optios offer basic point-n-shoot operation without manual overrides for any form of creative control.
They can turn out reasonably nice pictures (I bought one last year for my sister) but I'd only recommend them to somebody who has no interest in photography and just wants something to take snapshots with.
I'm sure the price is fine.

It's a good deal if what you want is a basic point and shoot compact camera (which is what your first post suggests).
I'm also a big supporter of any device which supports AA batteries, which makes the E60 attractive compared to similar offerings from other brands.
I've got a Kodak P&S at home and the fact it can't take AA batteries is a big drawback for me.

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.
Apparently.

I think you really need to consider what your father would be using the camera for . If it's going to be his only camera then he may want more than just a simple point and shoot - he might want some scenes etc .
What size of Monitor does he want - obviously the bigger the better - does he want an Viewfinder [ not easy to get now though my Kodak had one ] ?

Thank you guys! Actually he has Canon 350D. He is looking for simple camera for his skiing. Just point and shot! Small enough to be with him on the slope. Many thanks!
