As I can't afford a 50mm f1.4 I have been advised my my local camera shop to try and find an f1.7. These were only recently discontinued and were <£100
Any ideas where I might get one - or a reliable cheap secondhand f1.4 (or 1.7)
Must be Autofocus as I already have a f1.4 manual
Cheers

Second-hand auto-focus 1.7s aren't common - so it may take you a long while to find one.

There is a new FA 1.4 on ebay at the moment from SRS (reputable UK seller) for £156 including postage. I wonder if that is cheaper than you thought?

Was going to suggest that myself, as I went down there and got one last week!

...And you'll save seven quid on postage by going to Watford. But I suspect the petrol or train fare from Walesland would cost more than that

Thanks Guys - I did know about SRS and would probably use them for a new - although I have found it for £148 elsewhere.
I don't really "need" a new lense so wanted to keep it as cheap as possible - preferably <£80

The worrying thing is, I got a £4 discount.

Worrying because Chris knows me by name now, and how much money I am spending down there!

Thanks Pete, I don't have an ebay account but know a fried who might be willing to bid on this. Any idea what this may go for?

I would guess £50 to £100, but I don't know really.

Upto £81 with 5 days still to go.......this is likely to get beyond what I want to spend. Seems daft that this may get well over £100 when a new f1.4 is available for <£150!

I'd be a little suprised if the lens went over £100, however it is Ebay so you never know!

I managed to pick up my own FA 50mm F1.7 for a lot less because it was in a job lot with an MZ50 and 28-80 (neither of which I wanted) and no-one else seemed to have noticed.
