Does anyone have a spare silver film lever cap, the one that sits on the retaining screw of the film lever on the top plate. I can do a low value swap for something or a little cash or give something into the Pentaxuser community.

Keep an eye on ebay, spares or repair MEs/ME Supers/MGs/ME-Fs come up for about a fiver pretty often. All the M series winder caps and levers are interchangeable (aside from the MX, which may be different?)

The good news is that I have one of these that you can have. At the moment it seems reluctant to unscrew and I do not want to use grips that might mark it. I will try a little heat later, if you send me a pm with your address I will send it you.

You can remove them without marking by using mole grips.

The trick is to make sure you only grip the cap on the very narrow vertical part which touches the winder lever. I've removed a couple leaving barely noticeable marks by this method. Just remember they unscrew backwards compared to normal bolts!

You can remove the cap easily with a rubber lens bezel removing tool, or an elastic band. Just grip the cap and turn it clockwise to unscrew (left-handed thread).

It seems to depend on who was working on the production line when the camera was made. I've had a couple which seemed to have been tightened by the Asahi sumo team as they wouldn't unscrew with anything less than the grips, while others undo if pressed hard with a thumb and then twisted clockwise.

The cap is now free and will be winging its way to Chris tomorrow. A blast with an hair dryer loosened it up nicely. I would not recommend this method on a working camera, but the camera in question is non working and only kept for parts.

Now does anyone have a spare in black, I lost mine last Sunday somewhere in Greenwich while taking riverscapes. Any assistance gratefully acknowledged.
