I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a "beyond economic repair" K10d going spare.
I need one to practice on before trying to strip mine down to repair it. Don't want to make a pig's ear of mine and then find I can't get it back together!
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

The missus fell on top of ours and cracked the casing and flash cover- I've been meaning to see if we could get it fixed at reasonable cost or sell it for spares, if not then happy to pass it on.

Are you in any crashing hurry? We bought a K5 as replacement which put repair of K10D on back-burner, I've been meaning got see if we can get it fixed as it's pointless keeping in its current state. I'll have a ring around next week to see.

No great hurry, it'll probably take me a few months to get round to doing it anyway.
Don't know if mine can be fixed, but I want to know what I'm getting into with a really bust one first. I've had a look at the plans and it looks a nightmare to strip down.
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

The K10D isn't that bad to strip down - depending how far you need to go.

What isn't 100% obvious is that the SD card board and motherboard are linked by a really fine-pitch surface mount connector that can be ripped apart if you're not careful

I rebuilt one from two broken (my son uses it).

So I have one in pieces sitting on a shelf - broken LCD, broken SD-card inter-board connector. Everything else ok (mirrorbox, switches etc).

How far do you need to strip yours? (PM me)

Suggestion - because I hate to see wastage, especially cameras

My broken one simply has a non-functioning shutter.
Matt could take casing and flash cover to repair his, creating a serviceable camera - I'm guessing this wouldn't e hard for you as you've rebuilt one before.
The reassembled broken shutter and cracked case can then make it's way to Father Ted for his practice
I'm sure we can come to some amicable arrangement around costs/postage etc etc
If something like this sounds of interest, please let me know - remember I can't PM til mid June - but presume I can receive them.
Look forward to hearing your comments.

That sounds like a great plan.
I need to get to the aperture lever, just behind the lens mount, and would really rather find a way in from the front so I don't have to touch the PCBs etc.

I'm still up for it
But best make me last in the chain. As it's for practice it may never get back together, and, if it did, there'd be parts left over
