Fabled is right. I believe very few were sold.
It's not quite the same, but I find these to be very good:

George,
Thanks. I want to commit a sacrilege. There was a webpage I spotted a couple of years ago and I've lost it now. It described adapting the grip strap and putting in 4 AA batteries. I have a large stock of 2CR5 batteries but I wanted some "rechargeable" solution also.
I have a Li-ion 2CR5 but I'm not convinced by it. 500mAh. The AA solution would give 5 times the capacity 2500mAh.

How do you get the power into the camera? Presumably you would have to remove the battery door and fabricate something that looks like a 2CR5 battery to carry the power to the camera contacts. Then you would have lost the 2CR5, but gained 4 AAs.
Grails come in many forms it seems. Good luck with your quest.

The 2CR5 battery is absolutely up to the job. Don't forget that, unlike a DSLR, there is no screen to power, so the requirements are far less.
Best regards, John

We've rather forgotten the days when you put a coin battery into a camera and replaced it a year or two later.

Thanks folks,
I'm happy with the 2CR5 but would like a more extended option.
I like twiddling with the powerzoom, I haven't seen any current DSLR offering this excellent power eating feature.
The adaptation I saw had wires running from the AA holders in the grip to an adapter placed in the battery compartment. There will need to be accommodation for the wires. I was going to use an old 2CR5 and remove the spent cells.
I'll be gaining the flexibility of just carrying AA's and being able to use NiMH rechargeables. I can standardise on AA in the kit bag for the flash and camera. A 2CR5 primary cell can be back up.
(As for the coin cell camera I am also the happy owner of a Olymupus XA2. Its a shame the light blocking velour didn't last as long as the battery.)
Anyway once complete my caravan is setting off on a expedition to photograph unicorns.
Regards
Doug

I've bought another Z1.
I would like to purchase the fabled grip strap. I've heard they used to exist. The kind on the Dimitrov's page.
If anyone has one they don't want please let me know.
Thanks
Doug
