Wanted : K10D - Found thanks.
Must be in excellent condition, boxed with all the bits.
Anyone out there looking to upgrade and want to move theirs on to a loving home?
I will only buy from someone here that has serious feedback if they want paying upfront. The other option is that I will accept another high standing member holding the camera and upon receipt to them I will pay and then the camera can be forwarded on.(at my cost of course, provided I can get someone on here to agree to that).
Am living in Spain so postage to here would be appreciated but can arrange a UK address if needbe.
Many thanks.
Mike.
Some of the secondhand K10D's that have appeared here have been the same price or slightly more than a new one from Chris @ SRS.
Chris does post items to forum members in Spain.
The current price for a new K10D body from SRS is almost half what it was Christmas 2006.
If I was selling a K10D body, I think that I would wait until the new stocks are exhausted, which will not be long, in the hope that secondhand prices will then rise.

Though it is more likely the prices will come down even further as K200D and K20D prices reduce from their initial high. Bodies are not a good investment; buy them to use them. Now lenses on the other hand...

I guess you are right. Apart from selling my KX, I have not sold any Pentax bodies.
Rather like computers, at some point you just have to jump in, buy something and accept that next week the same model could well be cheaper.

Which is what I was thinking, the other option being that I buy a K100D Super and spend my cash on lenses, then when the K20D craze starts to bite I would upgrade to a K10D. As a complete novice it's going to take me a while to negotiate my way round the K100D, never mind the K10D.
Never been one for having the newest kit .. am happy to wait .. a few days
I can't imagine you'll get a new one much cheaper or even 2nd hand.

The K10D was my first digital SLR and I specifically waited for its arrival once its birth had been announced, despite its long gestation period
You can choose to use it in totally automatic mode and then gradually move on to more sophisticated modes, taking more control over your photographs as you learn.

This is basically what I did. At the end of January I bought a K100D Super for the best price in Europe and since then have spent about twice that amount on four lenses. I'll upgrade to a K20D when the prices look more like the K10D does today.
It's tempting to always upgrade but there are other things to spend money on. Speaking of which, my computer is six years old and getting long in the tooth...
Argos has the K100D Super kit for £270. The major dealers are generally sold out I think.

But don't spend time on all the scene modes. To my mind these are a waste of space even for a novice. The "P" mode works fine for snaps. Learn how to tweak that with exposure compensation -- it's a single adjustment. Next learn about setting ISO for lower light. ISO 400 and 800 work perfectly good. Beyond that you'll get more noise but use if you must.
After that, try aperture priority mode to pick your depth of field. At this point you'll like a fast prime for precise DOF handling.
It's all lots of fun. I've taken 2500 shots in two months, without really trying.
A couple things I forgot.

Cheapest I have found : http://www.rgb-tech.co.uk/product/1549
Still hoping that someone wants to upgrade or Chris from SRS comes up with a refurb K10D though
Cheers for the advice on the K100D, it may just come in useful yet.
I thought there was something crawling across my monitor.
