I have found Aaduki to be excellent. Very easy to deal with - and you can arrange public liability insurance and professional insurance as well as amateur

Hi Andy i have got my camera gear insured through my home insureance(esure).
It is insured for every eventuality and you can specify how much you need to insure. It worked out at an extra £3 per month on my policy for £3000 worth of gear

I use Towergate and they are one of the best you can get.
They insure the amount your equipment costs, as a lump sum rater than each individual item.
I have my equipment and pro indemnity & liability with them and for a great price

Check the terms and conditions very carefully for any insurance covering cameras - some will not pay out for what they describe as negligence - for instance if you are concentrating on taking a photo with your bag at your feet and the bag gets snatched - you are negligent. They also often don't cover theft from a hotel room - but do you really want to take your gear to dinner with you every evening? Have you tried fitting all your gear in a hotel safe??? If you are planning on flying make sure it offers worldwide coverage and will cover gear that is checked - your tripod for instance must be checked and should there be another security scare you may not be allowed hand baggage and have to check the whole lot to get home again.
For the Dutch members here I can recommend the Omroep insurance .

That's where Towergate shine through, maybe it's because it is a professional insurance company.
When I first started looking for insurance, I went through a company called Photoguard. They seemed ok on paper but they wanted every item listed with serial numbers and also a replacement value. This to me, was a lot of hard work and it took me ages to get insured. I was also told that there T&C's and the small print wasn't worth the paper it was written on. It was something about a solicitor from the BIPP going through it and questioning them about it. Basically it was written very badly indeed.
This is my second year with Towergate and they are fantastic as far as insurance companies go.

Glover & Howe (recommended by Pentax User) only require you to individually list items that have a value of £150 or more. The rest fits into the Misc Items lump sum.
Their terms, conditions and rates are reasonable, and you can change your list of items (the "schedule") at any time via email. They offer both amateur and professional options.

Thanks All. Yes I went with G+H. I looked at photoguard and didnt like what i read in there t+c's either (I aint even a solicitor lol)
G+H seemed to have good t+c's and reasonable premiums.
I didnt know about the £150 thing though so I listed everything (includeing my mem cards and tripod rofl).
There t+c's say its worldwide cover and even get unatended car cover which I thought was a nice change LOL.
Cost me £23 for covering £1000 gear.
Just have to wait and see now....
Thanks to everyone for there responses.

Re unatended car cover from G&H: Your stuff does have to be in a locked boot though - which I think is quite reasonable since it would be easy for anyone to break a window and grab a bag off a seat.

Yes that is true, but does anyone actually leave there expensive equipment on the back seats?
Well saying that... It takes all types to make the world go round lol

Some policies also say that your equipment should not be left in your car overnight if you can take it indoors (eg a hotel room or your home). Not sure about G&H but my policy says it can be left in the back of a hatchback/estate providing the cover is in place.
Another important point to consider is that you must generally insure ALL of you equipment, ie if you only insure your travelling gear but have uninsured studio gear at home you may find that NONE of your equipment is insured!

I need to get my kit insured, so what companies are good, reliable and actually payout when something happens?
