I use Uniross CRV3 rechargebles now 5 years old and still going strong.

Like you,I have owned A Pentax DL2 since June 2006.Having tried several types of rechargable batteries (including Panasonic) I finally got round to inserting Eneloops last January.
The camera is still showing full charge,and has been used a lot.Haven't even charged them yet. Use a sanyo recharger,giving a ten hour charge,and then forget them.Can't think why I never tried them before.

Sanyo Eneloop or similar technology batteries are the way to go. They have very low self dicharge rates, retaining 80% of their charge after 12 months of non-use.
I've found 7dayshop.com to be about the cheapest. Some good prices can be found on UK supermarket web sites at times too.

I bought Sanyo enllopes from Amazone last year and have never worried about recharging them often battery life still shows full even after 300 pictures on my k100d in raw format.
Am very impressed.

Totally agree - although the OP resides in one of the colonies! I would hope that the Canadian DIY sheds and department/grocery stores have them too.

Since acquiring the Pentax *ist DL2 back in June 2006 I purchased a double set of Panasonic NI-MH RECHARABLES.
Just back from using a full set it only gave me four pictures on the DL2 and the spare set only gave me 10 shots. Thus they need replacement and wondering if anyone as suitable suggestions as I don't wish to be bad for the environment and get SINGLE USE BATTERIES.
