Waiting

After sunset - same evening. One of our raptors flew across my path and landed in a dead tree. He didn't stick around for long - I had time to open the passenger side window and shoot through that. The 50-135 is the longest lens I carry, hence the bird is not the major feature in the tree.

C&C welcome as always.

A quick return to form as I would expect. I really like that. I'd prefer just a smidgeon of space to the right of the right-most branch and another cm of ground (but not to the detriment of space above the bird). But I'm being super picky. Nice shot.

Agreed - all points.

Something a little odd has happened possibly in re-sizing it. If you look at the second large branch from the bottom on the left hand side, it has aliased (the staircase effect). Is this a very small crop?

Yes I agree too, nice shot. Being a bit picky I'm wondering if you could have got a bit more colour out of that sky?

Thanks for both the embedded compliments Doc . Revised crop herewith...

Oggy - cheers; the raw image shows no aliasing, but this crop does too. It is something in the resizing then.

Jon, thanks - I pumped it up a bit...

I would have left the shot with the first crop and just cloned off the end of that branch, extending the frame to the right has placed the tree more towards the centre of the frame and revelaed that dark blob of cloud on the right, its only small but I find it very distracting.

I love this. the bird's an added bonus. The way the tree's silhouette knits together the sunset hues is lovely.
Best wishes,

Andrew

What a great shot i-Berg! I like this very much and think I prefer the lightened version rather than the original. It really captures the evening atmosphere and the bird perched in the top of that angular tree is brilliant!

Cheers guys - some good suggestions here. I agree about the lump of cloud too, Alan.
