I just got my hands on a Vivitar series 1 600 M/P/O flashgun. I have read a few posts regarding trigger voltages and i checked out a site (which george was kind enough to send me the link too) It states the trigger voltage is 8.7volts and its my call if i want too use it or not. What is the voltage limit for my k100d.
I don't know if there's a limit as such, not published anyway.I just got my hands on a Vivitar series 1 600 M/P/O flashgun. There seems to be something of a consensus that under 10V will be Ok.
One suggestion I would make though, is that you measure it yourself.
Not for a moment impugning the good intent of the contributors there, but there's no guarantee that the figures quoted on that web site were accurately measured, or accurately recorded - you wouldn't want to be the one that found out that there was a decimal point in the wrong place.
I measured a few guns recently. Three of the four came out well under 10V, so they're in use with the K10D. The other one, similar vintage, was well over 100V.

It's also worth noting that guns with the same name and model number have been known to have widely different voltages. Vivitar changed their 283 at some point and we have measured 270V with some and less than 10V with others, apparently identical otherwise.
Best regards, John

Wow those ranges are quite wide. I have a voltmeter so i will check it myself. i saw a post on here on how to do it and if i have any reservations i will just get the Pentax 360 and be done with it. Thanks guys

I have a Metz 45CT1 and checked the voltage and got a reading of 7v but earlier models of the same gun can read as much as 250+v so it pays to check for yourself. I got an email from Pentax saying that their cameras could handle up to 30v.

From what I have read about the Vivitar flashguns, the ones with a D after the name tend to be the low voltage variety. The M/P/O simply means it is the Minolta/Pentax/Olympus model.
I have the Vivitar 2800D model and it works fine in manual mode with my K100D.
