Good place to get climbing photo's too! Trevor crag is just up the hill from the town and hosts some great bolted-sports-climbs...
Love Llangollen!!

It's free all the time in another few weeks, they only charge during tourist season...better photos to be had in October onwards too as the tents surrounding the Abbey at the moment all disappear

Hi Bill
I am free pretty much all weekend so I could fit around others to be honest
My son and other half plan to join in but they often join me for a walk in our local area so a pretty normal weekend for us except for the potential of more Pentax users, maybe
Also nearby as well as Dinas Bran, there are the escarpment behind Dinas Bran, the Horshoe pass quarry workings, the horshoe falls, Plas Newydd, the railway, horse drawn boats etc so plenty to see and do in and around Llangollen - not to forget Ty Mawr Country Park in the village we live in, Cefn Mawr which is 4 miles outside of Llangollen
So far I expect that it would be noon/ early afternoon but this can alter to suit
If you or anyone else is up for it let me know, the weather looks best on Saturday, so far at least.
Ted, perhaps we can tempt you away from the indoor pursuits
Cheers

Unfortunatley the plans for this weekend involve servicing and re-building the front brakes on my car, so that it drinks less fuel ( hopefully!)Ted, perhaps we can tempt you away from the indoor pursuits

I might be up for a visit up that way later in the year with my son( some nice walking on crisp winters days ). If I do maybe we could arrange a meet then? Last time I was up there I stopped to take a shot of a frost encrusted leaf, just by the car park I parked at; only to realise my memory card was still in my PC at home!!
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

I sympathise on the brakes Ted - my front caliper/ handbrake (yes it's on the front) decided to lock on (to varying degrees through the day) last Tuesday - luckily I was off on Wednesday so I sorted it then - took a few hours though
It's usually the spare batteries I leave behind not the memory card

Great day out Stu Thanks, I hope Rhys likes my latest Gallery shot,(and Flickr posting) I really don't know whether he would dream of the Yamaha or the Bigma, or both like me.

Thanks Bill
We really enjoyed the day - Rhys loves the photo - perhaps we should print it out for his wall.
Nice to meet your other half as well - if everyone could be as easy to get along with as you guys life would be better
Rhys liked his sausages and would like to know if you liked yours
I have been busy clearing my hard drive of old useless photo's but once finished I will upload some photo's from last Monday and today
Cheers

My partner, son and myself were in Llangollen this afternoon, the guy at the Valley Crucis Abbey advised that next weekend is an open door (free entry weekend) and that he wil be dressed as a monk (not sure if anyone else will be) and that guided tours will be given.
I plan to attend but would suggest Saturday as on Sunday some of the roads are closed due to a 'cycle event' - mind you perhaps the cycle event will be a photographic bonus and Sunday may be best
Any takers on this:
