Using lens reversal with Pentax K-r

I have an old K-r. I recently decided to try macro with a lens reverser. When I try it, I can't use the shutter and it won't start live view. I think I'm missing something.

I'm sure someone with a KR will confirm but there should be a menu item "use aperture ring" that needs to be set to enabled and you may only be able to use the camera in Manual or B mode. Have a look for that in the menu - if you can't find it (or similar wording) wait for more precise advice
