USING A K30 WITH APERTURE BLOCK FAILURE

I dug out the K30 which I have not used for a long time since getting a K5 and then K3. Needless to say, it shows black frames and aperture block failure. I like the design of the K30 and am thinking of using it permanently with the M42 adapter and some Takumar lenses or for pinhole photography. Is anyone using one of these older bodies for these purposes or something similar. Is there anything to beware of?

For retaining the date, try firing the onboard flash. It worked on an older body I had. Not sure why.

Sadly, there are still intermittent dark photos when thecamera has been unused for a while (30 minutes and over).
