Using a flash with bowens studio lights

Could you not use the Metz without the built in flash? It occurs to me that you are going to be using two manual heads so you would have to use the Metz on manual anyway. Best solution is one of those radio triggers from Hong Kong via eBay, mine only cost about £10 and is very good, to fire the Metz and then the other two can be triggerd by their photocells.

An alternative would be to use an older TTL flash that has a tiltable head (AF400FTZ, AF500FTZ or similar) mounted on the hot shoe and pointed at the ceiling. If set to manual and low output, it would trigger the slaves with no pre-flash whilst contributing very little light to the scene. This assumes you have a ceiling to bounce from.
Radio triggers are cheap and my preferred option. If you buy the Phottix ones, make sure you get the MK-II versions where the receiver has a PC synch socket to wire your Bowens lights into. The ones I have (Original MK-I) don't have the synch socket.

As Mannesty says, use an older flash of suitable trigger voltage in the hot shoe and have all other heads/flashes set as slaves.

I think the camera is Sending a pre flash which is triggering the Bowen's and then slightly later the Metz- any ideas?
