Wracking my brains to think of a subject for this?
Bird on a nest maybe, or the moon.... Would you need to track the moon with this?

Endless for birders if it was any good....... but would it be as good IQ as my Q with the DA*300 at about 1720mm

Immeasurably better than the Q/300 combination I would think, as the lens will be working at its full MTF rather than reduced by 5 (or whatever magnification factor using the Q is).Endless for birders if it was any good....... but would it be as good IQ as my Q with the DA*300 at about 1720mm
That lens is just so tempting, if I had the cash spare at the moment I'd buy it in a heartbeat as its a lifetime opportunity and it isn't ever going to lose value is it? Regrettably my lens fund is both a bit light and looking at something else at the moment though.

They take months to sell by the looks of it.
I think modern technology has recently made these giants a bit obsolete. It must be almost impossible to control, it's so long, it must vibrate for a week if your heart beats or something.

Yes, but at a frequency measured in years
it must vibrate for a week if your heart beats or something.

I bought a EuroMillions ticket today.....
....
QUAAAAK!
Now, I wonder what the minimum focus is??
Just need to build a bunker to mount it in...
Seriously, although an old lens...
possibly subject to vibration problems in low light...
and be horribly affected by heat haze...
I bet it would work very well for video shots of wildlife...
you'd be far enough away for the target to remain undisturbed.
However, in addition to the £1500 for the lens....
you'd need to fork out for a big Manfrotto and a gimbal head to do any follow shots...
