being in possession of mz50 and ftz500 flash the manual tells me that i could use the flash in sync with the built in flash to control contrast in pictures. however when the external flash is mounted on the hot shoe one is unable to use the built in flash. is there any way by which the external flash's height can be increased so that both the flashes could be used keeping the TTL facility in tact. i am told an extender for the hot shoe is available. is it true.

The solution to your problem is to buy a flash bracket on which to mount the 500FTX, and a hotshoe adapter Fg. (The adapter F will also interfere with the pop-up flash; you must get the Fg.)

Finally you need sync cord F 5p to connect the adapter to the flashgun. This is a short lead; you can alternatively mount the flash gun some distance away if you use the longer sync cord F 5p (L).

These items are often available on Ebay, but secondhand ones are usually obtainable here: http://www.rcomputers.co.uk/mxv/home.html (assuming you're in the UK).

Ffordes also sell them: https://secure.ffordes.com/index.htm
