urgent help! printing big format in London

Hello,

I want to print a photo and need it by Friday latest (it's for a present).

I went to Snappy snaps hoping it would work just fine, but it did not. I went for a test photo in 4x6 first (thank god!) but they print the big ones on the same printer so the quality will be the same.

The problem I have with the picture is that it's quite dark, and it ended up even darker once printed (and simply horrible/not something you would hang on your wall). The picture is from the same serie as this one https://www.pentaxuser.com/photo/user-11178/constantine-beach--cornwall--uk-2074...

It looks fine on my computer screen but maybe it IS too dark?

Anyway I would like to print 12x18 (although quite tempted to only go 8x12 as half the price) - I work in Soho so anywhere central is good. Snappy snaps charge £15 for this format, I don't mind paying that much as long as the print come up nice!!

THanks in advance!!

It looks spot on to me but you might find that a pro lab, there must be a few in Soho, will do a better job and not necessarily cost more

Hi

I'm sure Pro-Am Imaging will be able to help - if you get your file (prepped to their requirements) to them quickly. £1.25 for 12" by 18" print and Next Day Delivery before 1pm for £8.50.

Their website is here.

Info for how they need to receive files is here. You'll have to download their Fuji Colour Profile and install on your system, then use Photoshop "Convert to profile.."

As your photo is too dark and prints even darker, sounds like your monitor isn't calibrated. Or your image is tagged with a different colour profile to that used by Snappy Snaps and something got lost in translation...

Hope this helps.

The most complicated part of it is the colour profile, the rest that follows is easy:

- resize to 18 by 12 inch
- set resolution to 402 dpi
- create a folder on your pc/mac called "18 x 12"
- create a folder inside "18 x 12" called either "lustre" or "gloss" according to the type of print you want
- save your image as jpeg quality 8 in the "lustre" or "gloss" folder
- zip up the "18 x 12" folder
- send it to them

If you send me a copy of the image I can attach the Fuji colour profile for you - but only tonight, I'll not be around tomorrow or Thursday.
