Hi guys, after having my kx for a year now i think its time to upgrade my kit lens. So I was thinking of getting a tamron 17-50 2.8 after reading good things about it. The problem is tho is should i spend £300 on the Tamron when I can get a used 16-45 and a flashgun for around the same price? or even a 16-45 and a nice prime? Is the tammy a lot better then the pentax? Or is there another lens I may have missed? Any ideas peeps?
Pentax K5ii / Tammy 17-50 / Pentax-F 50 1.7 / Siggy 70-300 / Siggy 150-500 / and my favourite Pentax-A 70-210.

The 16-45 can produce professional results that compare with the best, albeit with a maximum aperture of f/4. What more do you want, unless it's f/2.8?

I prefer the Tamron to the 16-45... and I liked the 16-45mm a lot. I like how it's sharper at large apertures (and of course it's a stop faster - which is also nice!) That also gives it a more decisive advantage over the kit lens. It's at least as good, optically, as the DA* 16-50, which costs an arm and a leg!!! I'm sure you can find one s/h for less than 300.00.
