My K5 has done about 15,000 actuations and I still love it. I'm spending spare money on lenses for now. 300 DA * F4 for example.
My son has the new K3 (upgraded everything) and a good friend has the in between K5 IIS (better LCD and moire filter removed but same controls). The newer models will give you better very low light AF. Pixel peepers will tell you their model is best. All of us love our Pentax's. There are some absolute bargain used bodies around, some little used, unlike my own.

I would go for a K-5, K-5 II or K-5 IIs if at all possible. You will find it an amazing step up from your K10D.
Prices at the moment are quite low and it should last you for quite a few years yet.

To be honest the cameras mentioned above OR the K50 would all be excellent choices!

I not sure that I can stretch to K3 territory, but was considering K5 variant of some form.
Is this a like for like move given a 6 year technology gap or can something like the K50 fill the gap?
I previously asked a similar question in 2008 and went for the K10D which has been a good choice.
