What she doesn't know, can't hurt you.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Tell her the other one was a bit too complicated and the shop let you trade down to this smaller one and a kit lens.

Once the K-5 (ho ho) comes out and is proven I shall be trading down from the K-7. (5 is less than 7?)

Jimmy Choo told me so.
Lurking is shirking.!

I'm banking on the fact she knows I have a big camera with pentax on the front and that's it.
I could change my car and proving it was the same colour she would never know!

A 2nd hand, used, (abused??) body only is selling for £400 used, £300 more and you get the K-7 new.
But that is amost double price, not "just a litle more", as your post implies.
Best regards

????? ::

I write from a position of experience making this decision a few months back.

I specifically state £300 more and only use the word little with regard to warranty. If you infer "little" then its your problem.

K-7 went on here for £500 2nd hand, just.

Now if you want to by a 2 year old K20D with no warranty, no consumer rights, no nothing, that's fine. A member here has just experienced a K20D component failure necessitating a repair. No comeback as it was a private sale. heard of the Bathtub curve? Lots of failures at the start of the product life cycle, then it bottoms out for a while and then the failure rate picks up again.

Alternatively £300 more gets you the K-7 brand spanking new boxed.
And £400 more gets you the WR 18-55mm lens too.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

Your 2nd hand K20D could die tomorrow and its £400 wizzed up the wall.

Brand new K-7 dies tomorrow, the shop sends you a new one or the manufacturer does and keeps on doing for the next 2 years.

If you can only afford £400 then the question is K10D or K20D. If you can afford £800 then K-7 or K20D. Or like me you sell and scrimp and save and get the new K-7 rather than 2nd hand K20D, my choice to go without a camera for a few months.
Lurking is shirking.!

Actually if you have £400 its K-X or K20D. And the answer would be K-X for me, I think, although I did like the GX20.
Lurking is shirking.!

Lenses? well Nikon DON'T do WR on the kit lens, and indeed it you wanted the Nikon eqv will again up to 50% more to buy (Pentax DA*16-50 F2.8 vs Nikkor 17-55mm F2.8 )
Hope this helps..
And a brief search reveals that even those D300S owners with weathersealed lenses still generally put raincovers on the body.
