Update on my K-70

Well I have been using my K-70 for a few days now and here are my comparisons to my old K5ii. The first thing I noticed was that the K-70 tends to overexpose the highlights whereas the K5ii tended to get the exposure pretty much spot on most of the time but just dialing in a bit of exp comp sorts that out. I do think the AF on the K-70 may be slightly quicker but without my old K5ii to compare it with I am not sure. The handgrip is just as nice as the K5ii's and the body of the K-70 is smaller and lighter although the K5ii felt more robust because of it's alloy body. Image quality looks very similar to me, I am not a pixel peeper but without a AA filter and 24mp, the K-70 image quality should be slightly better. The shutter sound of the K-70 is quite loud compared to the K5ii but that's not really a problem for me. The K5ii had a lot more buttons on it's body for accessing certain features so the K-70 is not as intuitive to use at the moment but I am sure I will soon adapt. The biggest advantage of the K-70 and the reason I bought it is the flexible rear screen which is so useful. I don't regret exchanging my K5ii at all and I hope the K-70 gives me plenty of fun and not the dreaded aperture block

The manufacure date will help to determine if you are subject to aperture block failure.

Thanks Dale, that was the first thing I did and it was made in 2017 had a shutter count of 623 and firmware 1.0 So I have updated the firmware to 1.16 and fingers crossed that it does not fail for while at least

Nice shots and a very brave one of the Magpie, as it has always been a difficult bird to snap IMHO.

Thank you, the magpie did not move to my surprise, it was in silhouette when I took the shot but managed to bring out it's lovely colours in post.
