Got into Aberdeen, ( Scotland ), from a week in 'snow free' Shetland. The overnight ferry landed at 07:00 this morning, drove through the snow blizzards on the A90 to Dundee, and then on to my office in Edinburgh, then home

Unpacked my bags and put these beauties into the fridge, later I will poach my, Lerwick acquired, 'Shetland Smoked Haddock' in milk and serve with boiled potatoes and steamed broccoli , and drink one or two of the Valhalla Brewery beers, link , doesn't that sound bloody good !!!!

By the time they get here, they won't even have the aroma of beer anymore, so you can keep them.

Nice picture Galoot.

Over the festive period I thought I'd treat myself to a few bottles of seasonal brew. Waitrose were knocking out these on a four for three offer.

I bought them but when the time came to consume them, was a little dissapointed when I saw 4.3 as I glanced at the bottle.

I took a mouthful and it became apparent that that wash not the pershentage of alcohol hic.

Closher ecshamination revealed that it was 4.3 UNITSH per bottle, or 8.5%

Absolutely delicious, but one bottle constitutes binge drinking and after I had drunk a couple, the bottles were exactly the same shape as yours.

8.5% - p*** water !

Your should be trying the Dogfish Head World Wide Stout. Although te current brew at 18% is one of the weakest. Last week I consumed a 22% version and have also had a 24%! 1 small bottle = 3 normal pints!

'Tis the time for Starkbierfest in Bavaria in 2 weeks time....Salvator is the standard brew from Paulaner, but you can get Maximator, Unimator, Triumphator from other breweries...

A litre of that stuff and you will be merry....

Now.... can I find an excuse to go up to Shetland
