unable to install software cd ?? please help!

i am having trouble installing the pentax software cd so i am unable to download my pictures from my camera to the pc. anytime i attemp to install the software and i click on ACDsee it starts to prepare the setup and then stops and brings me back onto the start menu of the cd. does this mean i have a virus on my pc that stops me from installing any software or am i missing a hardware device or is the cd just faulty? also when i click on the quick time button it doesnt continue the installation as apparetly i have a newer version of quicktime wen i have uninstalled it. also its not recognizing my USB port which is akward. thanks for your help

All I did was installed from the Pentax CD was the USB drivers for the camera...

Be Sure to Install the drivers FIRST...
Then Plug your camera in...XP will then reconize New Hardware attached and will complete the install using those drivers you installed earlier.

I would also test other software just to see if they can install properly...

If you have to...go to the Pentax site and download the drivers directly from the site...this way you know it is up to date and it would eliminate being a faulty CD issue...

Oh yeah...First Uninstall any previous versions of the ACDSEE software.

In your paperwork you got with the camera there is a Pentax help line number.

I just use the camera as an extra drive and access it through My Computer. It comes up as Drive F and you can access the files from there if you are temporarily stuck.
