Got a photo comp coming up on the theme "Decay and Dereliction", which is more than a little outside my comfort zone.

So, Any C&C gratefully received. Interested in which people prefer pictorially, and which they think best portray Decay and Dereliction

I like #2 and #3 most because of the composition. The steps make an interesting pattern. #1 looks a little light on my monitor, but only very slightly. All these three depict decay and dereliction. The final image seems to be more about good reflections than decay and dereliction. Have you been up to the Tanfield Rilway Alan? there are loads of rusting old locos and boilers and bits and pieces there.

Thanks very much for the feedback David. I have to admit on the last one, I was just about done, then I saw some cotton wool clouds. I was even tempted to go plodging to try and re-arrange boulders to improve it, but I resisted ... lol.

If Decay and Dereliction are what you are after - I am available for a sitting all week

Nice set - and it may not be 'on topic' but the 3rd one really works very well - nice lines and contrast with a very pleasing reflection

No.1 is the best for me...is portrays decay well, sad really, it was probably a great pool in it's day.
No.2 would have been better if you'd turned the camera to the left a little so we could see more of the pool, as it, it leads the eye out of the picture.

Just my opinion of course. I've never agreed with competition 'judges' anyway

No 2 and No 3 for me, I agree with michaelblue, it does lead the eye out to the left but I still like the image

I like 2 and 3!....wonderful light!....shame about the state of it!,I've braved the cold many a time in there when I was little!...brrrrrrrrrrr!

Thanks for comments everyone. Still can't make my mind up. I think I like #3 best of all, but was happy to be able to include the church at Cullercoats in #2, which is a local landmark and using Lightroom managed to get the steeple more or less vertical.

I'm drawn to #3. Great composition and the reflections work nicely, and decay is nicely illustrated in the background by the staining on the rails and wall, and to the side by the litter and disintegrating concrete

I like these, a limited number of visual elements and some strong compositions.

I like the composition of 1 the most. I wonder if it would look slightly more graphic if the steps were parallel to the frame (then again this may skew the horizon).

Number 2 is good because to me, the reflection is very beautiful, almost pure but the structure itself is in decay- I often look at a potential shot of some body of water and see rubbish and debris as a problem- here it adds to the shot.

Number 3 has less impact for me- It is the one shot of the three that I feel I have "seen before" if that makes sense.

I've just read the other posts and it appears I am in the minority here. Oh well, no accounting for taste!

OOops, it appears I only have three images to view- are there four? I have a blank on photo number one if that is the case, hence I am calling number 2 number one and number 3 number two if that makes sense?
