what did you try?
Press Mode on the flash until the screen says "C0 SL". Flip the flash up on the k20d, see what happens.
If you need it taken apart, LMK, I've done several.

1 - mount the flash on your k20
2 - turn them on
3 - set your k20 to Wireless (the flash icon with "W" underneath)
4 - select "Cx Sl" on your flash (where x is the channel number, so can be 1 to 4).
5 - half-press the shutter (to initiate data exchange between flash and body so they synchronize the channel ID to be used)
6 - turn the flash off, take it off the body and place it wherever you want.
7 - Turn it on again (selecting "Cx Sl" if needed).
This should do the trick...
Next time, only step 7 should be needed.
Don't forget to put your K20 in Wireless commander mode (see in the custom function menu), so the on-board flash doesn't contribute to the picture.
By the way, from memory, "C0 SL" is the dumb optical slave mode.
