trashing a shop?

I just got back from a shop in london and the two times i'be been there the service is aweful and they speak to me as if i was retarded. I was very close to insulting the guy.

Anyway i wonder if it's ethical to post their name on the forum as a "dont even bother going there", they dont deserve to have shop with that service, plus although it says "they wont be beaten on price" on the shop, they actually dont show ANY price.

anyway i'm just grumpy, the managed to put me in a bad mood.

AS long as you stick to facts and don't say libellous things you can name a case of bad service as much as a case of good service.

This sounds familiar - I think this shop was mentioned very recently on the forum and is well known for this. Do they ask you how much you want to pay?

With the exception of wedding gigs, I tend to dress down alot.

then there is the test... If you gotta ask a question for which you require an intelligent answer, start by asking two questions for which you already know the answer, and if the sales person lies to you... don't bother asking the real question...
taking you business elsewhere is the best thing for all involved, and in the case of really obnoxious salespeople, try to remember they are driving business away from a business owner that might not be aware of the problem.. Make him aware, there is nothing wrong with telling the manager or owner why you walked out of his establishment and spent your money at his competitors place of business.

i basically asked if they had any ball heads, they said yes, 2 models:

- £20 for a hama that wouldnt work with a DSLR
- £200 for a "professional" model, didnt ask the brand.

So I asked if they had anything in between, the guy said no, I asked if they had any Manfrotto, the guy said they cost over £200 - so I said I know there are some cheaper models starting under £50 - to which he replied it was the "new Manfrotto" and they were crap (didnt use the word but a similar one), basically the message was "i'm not interested in you", clearly they dont get any commission from selling, and I actually wonder who would want to buy from them?

Anyway I politely said "thank you" for such a nice advice. I will for sure never go back there.

I dont really see how/why the way you dress/look should have any impact, but i wear trainers and jeans, casual, not cool, not pretentious.

I've been there twice, spoke to 3 salesmen in total, and the 3 of them were arrogant, negligeant.

If you look like you got lot's of money, expect better service. everywhere.

If you want a ballhead, take a look at the Red Snapper one - £50 including a QR plate, takes Arca Swiss-style plates so you can buy different lengths to shift the centre of gravity of the camera/lens on the head.

All metal, very nice to use, handles my K-m with everything from the 35mm f2.4 to a Bigma. They also have excellent customer service skills and deliver very rapidly - even while other suppliers are in the "Holi-daze" between xmas and new year!

i think i want to go for the MR494RC2 as the right weight and supports 4kg which is what i need (dont even own a tele)

To be honest the only reason I'd replace the RS legs and head with anything from a brand name would be if it wore out rapidly due to heavy use. Given how little I use a tripod this isn't likely to happen in the near future, and reports indicate that they're long-lived anyway.
