I just wanted to refer to the sad news about Pavarotti.

Opinions differ as to whether he was the greatest singer of the age; perhaps, like Mendelssohn, he never suffered enough.

But he had a truly wonderful voice, coupled with a tremendously warm personality. As an exponent and promoter of his art, he was unexcelled. And despite the glamour and adulation, he "walked with kings, but kept the common touch".

I haven't been so touched by a death for quite a while.

George,

Couldn't agree more.

In this age of divas and phoneys, his talent and honesty will be missed.

I'll say However he was good (nay, excelent) in his field, but then again so were Lennon, Mercury and Sinatra, either way its a sad loss.

PS Before I get any response about forgetting Elvis, he would have been up there with the greats if he'd not spent so many years wasting his talent on "B" movies (although I have to confess to watching tham all )
