Totally Naked
Nice casting though
Some are more equal than others
Nice casting though
Yws I agree
After all it is just a sprayed cover, how cool would the body be left naked on the finished model!!!!

Seeing the body like this makes me wonder how long the coat will last?
I agree, that's a concern I have too.
I would hope that the painted surface is pretty durable but I doubt that it's quite as tough as the outer shell of the K20D :
I'm thinking with respect to knocks and marks through general wear and tear.

I have come across some coated metal surfaces and they really are durable and scratch resistant. I developed a communications console for use in financial trading centres and they were used and abused 12 hours/day - cast aluminium with a powder coating spayed on and baked. Even after two years, when cleaned up, they were still in very good condition.

A camera in mint condition is a sad camera, as it has not been used enough...lol
Come on - look at the coated metal cameras of the 70s and 80s - they still almost invariably look good! Even the ones where the metal shows through a bit look classy, compared to scuffed and chipped plastic!

True, my black MX has rubbed shoulders showing the metal underneath. It looks fine, but the metal isn't shiny silver!
Maybe we should have faith in Pentax getting the finish right.

I'm very hopeful that the new finish will be just as good if not better, as technology will no doubt have moved on.
