Nice series. I like the last one very much although I might have been tempted to have taken a lower viewpoint.

Best wishes, Kris.

All nice, but I think the colour one is the best IMO.

The best one for me is the colour one above. Nice set of pics.

I like the posted one [ colour] and number 3 - though I'll admit I'd like to have seen that one before it was monochromed .

The green carpet effect is intriguing, and well captured Andrew. My favourite of the series is the tree (not to take anything away from this one though).

Nice set, especially the colour one on here and the tree.

Thanks everyone. The pictures were all taken within a few feet of each other last Saturday when the weather was closing in fast. The light became poor soon after this.

The scene suited monochrome, or so I thought, as there was very little colour to be had, yet, interestingly, some people prefer the slightly desaturated colour shot. I also changed the colour balance.

I know what you mean Kris, the monolith would have been better piercing the sky and standing out in stark relief. I think the same could be said of the lone tree which is a bit "lost" against the far hill although there were problems with the slope there.

Here's a colour version of the lone tree especially for the terminator.

Now that is stunning !

Just look at the variations in colour in that one - how many different greens can you see ?

Just look at the lichen [ ? ] on the big rock by the tree - unless you look carefully you can miss that .

Being honest - this is why I love colour shots - I'm becoming more and more fascinated by what I see in them.

OK, OK techno, you've convinced me. Perhaps I need to make greater use of colour. So many of my most recent shots have been converted. I suppose I find it easier, or something!

I know mono is anathema to you...
Best wishes,

Andrew

OY - no Mono is not anathema - it can work

But there are shots like that one of the tree that work , in my mind, better in colour .

I've looked again at the mono version - and yes it's interesting but you don't see some of the tonal variations as well in mono as in colour .

Look again at the chunk of rock by the tree - in the mono you are uncertain as to whether the colour variation is due to wear /weathering of the rock - in the colour shot you can see that it's actually some form of foliage growth.

Maybe my style , being somewhat veering to the snapshot/recording type [ for which I have been criticised ], is because these things fascinate me
