tools in pse 8

using the clone tool in pse8 everything fine until i opened up a new file after closing the old one and all i have is what appears to be a gunsight not a circle no matter what size i make . what have i done and how to correct it. HELP, thanks in anticipation

Go to Edit > Preferences > displays and Cursors and you have probably set to precise.
