Too cheap?

The GN is 33 which is somewhat lower than the old Vivitar 283 which is about 110. I got a 283 for £40 and it's great but I did also have to get the accessory that adjusts the power output which I got for a fiver. I think I'd go for the more powerful unit as you can always turn it down but not up. YMMV.

I dont really have a refernce point for the GN numbers so i hadn't really given it much thought but I agree, better to have a muted higher output flash than finding out its not powerfull enough.
The main reason I looked at these was the on board remote triggering abilities, so maybe I should consider an IR / RF trigger with some older flash guns
Also could you point me in the direction of the "accessory that adjusts the power output" you mention ?

Mike, I think the guide number you are quoting is in feet, and the other one is in meter. I might be wrong, but I don't think so. This would also explain the huge difference between both units.

I have Two YONGNUO DIGITAL YN460 and I think I paid around £26.00 each
They are fine for using as flash slaves, I use them with my metz 45cl for in door wedding as a fill in flash and they work fine
I've even used them as a studio flash on home shoot where room is tight.
please note they only have a sync speed of 1/125sec and a recharge time of around 5 sec but for £26.00 they are what they are cheep but work well with limits.

Now I'm not expecting a high quality unit, but for $78 bucks I figured it would a good punt and as long as it will fire remotely and have some adjustment on its output i will be happy.
So just before I leap in and order one I just wonered if any one had ever bought one?
