I think Tokina are actually one of the better lens manufacturers, so it seems a reasonable proposition in that respect. I don't see many of those about, so the price is an unknown really. Somebody else may have some idea.
Of course in the end it's what it's worth to you that counts.

Hi, I bought one a couple of years back and payed well over £100 for it, unfortunately it was stolen on holiday and never replaced
Just be aware it as the awful Ricoh P pin...or mine did and a few others I have seen also have it so I am guessing they all do.

Thanks everyone. It does indeed have the Ricoh pin, he has been up front about that. Also said he has never used it on a DSLR, so he couldn't say how it would do on the K30.
I've found a small tutorial on removing the pin, looks easy enough. Hopefully Tokina employ the same arrangement, so removing the pin looks easy enough.
I've said yes Will report back with my thoughts and some photos in due course.

If I was looking to get that focal range I would look no further than the F 35-70.ok not f2.8 but a little bump on the iso would get round that and can be had cheaper and no pin hassle.

I almost bought one of those, the F 35-70 gets rave reviews on pentax.com and if its anything like my F 70-210, i don't doubt for a minute that's a real cracker. All that put me off was the owner said the front element rotated and it was a pain in bottom with a CPL or square filters. Which unfortunately was a deal breaker.

User opinions scattered around the web seem very positive indeed. So happy to go ahead with it as i can't afford another Tamron 17-50 2.8 or 28-75 2.8.
Does £60 sound about right? Didn't want to buy it and find it worth £15.
