Hello...
Obviously I love the site.
Just wondered what the chances of a iPhone/smartphone app were... ?

Been asking for one on my Android phone for years now (along with a go to last post button) ... A few vague "we are looking into it" comments have been about it really.

I just got an upgrade from a HTCsalsa to an iphone and the apps actually seem to work... The Flickr one in particular is pretty good and Twitter (@BfdRenegade) is now actually useful on my phone too!

I use PentaxUser as much (if not more than) any other site, so a well thought out app would absolutely be of use to me... And I'm sure I'm can't be the only one!

I would vote for an app. I like the flickr app and the 500px one is cool (top website IMO) - I tend to dip into the PU site on my iPhone now and then, an app would be cool.

Windows phone please. If you're going to make one from scratch then do it for all current phone/tablet platforms.

Including the Symbian based phones too!

I access the site on my iPhone and iPad without any difficulty, using Safari.

I'm interested in how you think an App would enhance this? I don't find any advantage to having, say, Facebook as a App.
Best regards, John

I can access using Symbian, but the way the site is built, the size of image files, and complete page reloads rather than frames makes it slow to change pages and it jumps around whilst building the page.

I'm reading this on an iPad, can't see why we would need an app when Safari does the job.

An app is overkill, a mobile format of the forum would be handy to use on the go.

a bit like a US forum I frequent.
Lurking is shirking.!

Would something like Tapatalk be a possible solution? Some other photography forums use that (eg the Olympus E System User Group and DP NOw) and it seems to work quite well.

Good idea Doug! Better than an app certainly, and probably easier to develop. It would make life a lot easier. I see mobile versions of other forums and like them. I have given up with PU on my phone.

Tapatalk would be an ideal solution I guess. I actually offered my services as a programmer to the team about a year and a half ago to develop the Tapatalk plugin for the forum FOR FREE, but apart from a few questions about my background and intentions they didn't seem too eager.

Tapatalk is not a good idea as it is not available for Windows and Symbian.

I'd rather follow Doug's suggestion of a mobile website.
