Hey, anybody want to list off any tips, advice and suggestions to help people get the most from this forum?

Every now and then, a thread goes off topic, due to issues of etiquette, use of search functions, etc.

So to start us off, here's mine:

Every new question, is probably (statistically speaking) not new to the forum.
Therefore, if you try searching the forum berfore posting a question, you may find that your question has already been asked and answered.

That was the reason I suggested an FAQ section, but as others pointed out, there can be new (or different) answers to old questions.

It can be rather time consuming and laborious to wade through all the threads, albeit entertaining and informative.

New users, like myself, would perhaps like to make some sort of contact with the established wise heads, and by posting a question or comment, they may feel they're becoming involved in something worthwhile.

I've noticed there are numerous people who must be looking at the forums on a daily basis, the same names crop up over and over.

So, when they're not busy creating fabulous photos of their own, they take the opportunity to dispense advice and opinion. Not forgetting the humorous asides, of course. Who would begrudge them that?

I personally dont mind the same questions asked over and over, quite often new issues are raised during the replies and the original topic is expanded and covers issues that may not be discussed otherwise.

Scorpioni is right insofar as it helps newer members to integrate and become a part of the community, and it does keep the forum ticking over

Anyway, tell me again, whats that glass bit for that screws to the front of the camera?

Oh yes my tip would be for beginners to post your photos in the Your Photos section, not in the Gallery. Post one, or two or three if you must, but no more than that if you want any thoughtful comment.

Weekly comp entries go in the Gallery section.
Fortnightly entries are put in the thread in the Forum section.

All this raises a point which I was going to bring up. If the Mods don't mind - why can't a pdf be created 'Idiots Guide to the Forum' which could automatically be sent to new members when they join
