Time Lapse ?

Just wondered if any of these models have a time-lapse facility ? I notice that the frame rate on my Optio S50 is adjustable to either 15 or 30 fps, so the ability to vary frame rates is there.. Wouldn't it be a useful extra to be able to vary frame timings as well to create time-lapse ? Just curious what others think ..

The choice of 15 or 30 fps is purely for video
