Time-laps photography

I've used Windows Movie Maker to create timelapse vids. it's free and while it's interface is a bit Fisher Price, it works

I guess we should ask what look you are hoping to achieve as that has an impact in settings.
From my limited experience it's easier to stick with similar lighting levels. For example exposure settings are very difficult as you transition from night to day etc.
Also it often helps to have a fixed item in your shot to guide the viewer etc.
and you want more rather than less photos also, otherwise it can get very jerky.
These are bit hard and fast rules at all, just some suggestions/ideas.

Yes definitely more frames rather than less. YO ucan always adjust the frame rate in the vid to suit

So, how fast was the lap?

Thanks guys! I'm looking at shooting a frame every 2-4 secs, varying with altitude. Some will be day shots flying over interesting terrain, some will be night shots over cities. All will be shot in RAW. I also want to try shooting a sunrise from high altitude, which I guess might present problems as I'll have to somehow vary exposure compensation while shooting. I've no idea how to go about that.
