Have you disabled auto-power-down/screen saver/any power saving setting on the laptop? At what interval are the exposures?
PK-Tether works fine for me on a Win7 laptop. There is also a DIY infrared timelapse remote - you need a timelapse cable remote and a $4 infrared remote from dealextreme (for example).

As usual it's the simplest things. I haven't tried that, but that's probably what it is. Thanks.
Was testing out the Pk-tether as I'm thinking about getting a netbook for travelling.

it's "lapse", please
I haven't really used PK tether in anger, I can check maybe later one of the bodies under win7. Is it running as Admin? Did you change the save location? How fast is the disk it's saving to?

Sorry to take so long to check back. It's been a busy time.
I think I've sorted out the problem. Firstly the power off was set for 1 minute, so .I disabled that. Still didn't work after that. As I was only playing around I hadn't set to save the photos, so the buffer was filling up, with nowhere to put the photos. Once I set it to auto save, there was no problem.
Thanks for your help guys.

I tried PK tether and remote assistant today in anger with both bodies. Boy, am I disappointed.
Remote Assistant: 99 shot limitation. ARGH!
PK:
- crashed the K5 multiple times
- no limitations on the amount of shots but after a while, the buffer was "full" - autosave was set and there's space on the disk. Yes, it was RAW, but still...
- this then locked up the K5 three times while I was trying to work out what was going on.
- on the K10, it sometimes took two shots instead of one. It sort of worked for a while, there, too, and then decided to lock up on me on the laptop as well.
I'm very disappointed, I wanted to shoot a load of cloud movements for testing 1/30, 1/60, 1/125 and (whatever) in animation on both the K10 and K5 as I happened to have a storm coming in. No dice.
I'll see if I can get in touch with the PK Tether guy, it's got great potential and I'd love to be able to use it effectively.

I tried using PK-Tether, but for some reason it stops after 7 exposures.
Using it on Windows 7 laptop, so not sure if it's compatible, although I would have thought it would be.
Has anyone any thoughts either on Pk-Tether or any other way of doing time laps ?
