tic tac photobooks

I received a voucher for a free photobook from Tictac photobooks and downloaded the software, designed the book and uploaded my order.

Ok so you dont look gifthorses in the mouth but it is a little disappointing.

On the plus side: the binding is very good and the choices of colour and material good too, leather or linen. The paper is much heavier than I had imagined but I hadn't envisaged a high gloss finish. Text is particularly well defined, I opted for light gray on a black page.

On the negative side: on monochrome images there is a slight magenta cast in the midtones. In colour images the magenta cast is really noticable in areas of blue sky! There is also a sort of pixelation in areas of continuous tone, I think some sort of compression is going on.

In images with masses of texture/detail there aren't any problems at all.

Just a warning in case anyone was thinking of using this company, do any of you have any positive experiences of photobooks?

iBooks are as good as any coffee table book. £45 for a 44 page book, hardcover with dust jacket. Brilliant.
