I'd go for #1, but to be honest they are all a bit too surreal for me. Is that the result of any filters?

Thanks Barrie - I was going for surreal so at least I succeeded in that

I think you achieved your aim for a surreal look, to my taste I'd prefer #3

I'm really liking the b&w shot here.

The black and white shot looks more or less like a solarized black and white film picture.

No need to be sorry Mike, I wasn't expecting many if any to like these. Every now and then - I like experimenting and it is interesting to see what reaction the results get.

Just for the record - there is nothing I like about the first one, the b+w was the 'safe' shot and I thought almost guaranteed to split opinion. The middle one though was the one that really interested me - I look at it and although I wouldn't say I like it, there is something that keeps me looking at it - strange.

Some people either love milky water effects or hate them, personally I don't mind either in the right setting, but I don't think this is the right setting
In trying to achieve the surreal look you've taken out the only interesting detail in the image, the running water

The first two could be used as examples for why you should expose and process film as quickly as possible

10/10 for trying something different though, I think many of us could learn from your example and push the boundaries a lot more than we do.

Nothing ventured Carl.....

I think in this case, the water is too smooth. Were you having difficulties with colour casts too?

Hi Alan

I wasn't really having problems with colour casts - I was trying things that were likely to produce unexpected results. On shots where I did what I would normally do - I ended up with reasonably normal colors.

I agree that the water is too smooth but that was all part of the experiment - the water was so fast moving that a 3 second exposure would have been more than enough to slow it - but I was exposing for up to a minute to see what effects I could get.

No regrets - it was an interesting experiment and I certainly ended up with some very unusual shots - some much more surreal than these in fact.
