Thanks ChrisA for your comments. I agree 100%. You also have some experience with aviation photography I see.
Some - virtually none since going digital, though I have spent a lot of time at airfields over the years. Amongst my negatives I have a lot of dross and a little nice stuff, all film and manual focus. I'll be getting a scanner at some point, so I'll start to dig some of it out. I'm anticipating reliving all the disappointments I had when the films came back!!

You've seen, I think, the best of what I've done since going digital:

and

Also things like this I've done from the air:

.. and similar.

Could the exposures have been better?
I really don't know. I think you made a pretty good job, given the harsh light. The Mustang was excellent, with all the detail visible underneath as well as on top; all the others (not including the static and taxying ones which I'm not so bothered about) had the bright tops and dark bellies that are the curse of sunny air displays.

What I always used to do with film was overexpose by a couple of stops to bring out the dark bits. From what I see of digital it seems that that risks burning out the highlights which are then unrecoverable. So I'm not sure the rules are quite the same, going from film to digital, but I don't have enough experience of the latter really to have a strong view yet.

I'll PM you with links to a couple more I intend uploading to PentaxForums.
Please do, but my impression there is that you don't get anything much more helpful than "nice shot" when you ask for critique.

And I'll never be happy as long as people verbalise that they wish my threads would 'die'... I could point out a few worse.
After a quick look through, it seems I am the only one who used the word 'die' in regards to threads, so I'll assume you mean me.

I'm afraid you misread my post, I said:

Quote:
...if you are tired of the subject, don't read the thread and don't respond to it, that way it will 'die' quicker.
I was not, and am not, criticising your pictures, your threads, your posting technique or anything else. I was replying to another poster who was less than enthusiastic about plane pics (I think, I'm not really sure what he was fed up of).

I was suggesting that if someone was fed up of a particular thread, contributing to the same thread would not make it end quicker. I was not saying your thread (or any other) should die, I was actually trying to defend you.
Please call me aj,

OK. No hard feelings toward any. I think we're all on the same page here, so now we can move forward with our discussions regarding Pentax and images produced therewith.

I also recommend French Roast coffee. The type I get at my workplace is excellent enough to make me edit rants I had just posted.

Starbucks is just too damn pricey to have often...
