The photography show

Just about to leave and found the Ricoh display, first time I've seen such a huge lineup of Pentax gear in one place and ironically they told me I now had a local Pentax dealer too.... Oh well when they make a full frame to lure me back I now know....

It is good to see a Pentax display now and again.

This made me smile when I went into BIC Camera in Tokyo last September when I was in Japan on holiday.

I'm just back as well. Loved the feel and balance of the gripped K3, just couldn't afford it right now even with the show discount!

I felt it was just a shame that, compared to Canon, Nikon and even Samsung, Panasonic and Fuji, Pentax's stall was so small - just an add-on to LCE I think.

Staff were v friendly and enthusiastic though and were quite happy to let us play with various lenses on the cameras.

Go on, ruin my evening;....how much was the show discount?

K-3 plus the 35mm f2.4 - £979..

There may have been an SD card thrown in as well - can't remember. Don't forget to factor in the £10 entry and a further £10 parking - does that feel any better?!

Ohh. I don't feel so bad now as that's £1 more expensive than SRS!

So I hope no one paid parking and admission and expected a bargain

I only went for the rankin interview but still bought lenses sigh.... No bottomless pit here..

I wanted to go but it's too far away, hope they have one in Bournemouth BIC

I was there today (after fighting the miles and miles of roadworks on the M6 south). Not surprisingly it seemed very similar to recent Focuses, the same stands and the obligatory Canikon users with two foot long lenses bouncing flash off the air conditioning ducts 50ft above. The usual 'This is how I shoot weddings' and 'Why our software is the absolute necessity for your photo business' presentations. Mercifully I didn't have to fill in a registration card asking who I was, where I lived and who I worked for. I shot a few candids (on film) trying to illustrate the above.

Of interest was the Lomography & Impossible Project (rejuvenated Polaroid instant) stands. I found the HUNGRY EYE magazine link to be a breath of fresh air and subscribed to that.

- £10 parking ticket, £15 entry and 4 gallons of diesel
- 5 rolls of Ektar 100 135

- 5 rolls of Portra 160 120
- Lomography Konstructor 35mm 'SLR'

- Something expensive I'm not prepared to own up to yet

It was great to see Pentax so busy! Had a play with the new Hd converter next on my to buy list (not available to buy yet).

Blimey, 35mm SLR, rolls of film, fuel by the gallon. Sigh, those were the days. Those Tardis's never were very economical on diesel

I took my camera in with my DA*300 to test the 1.4TC and was suitably impressed.
All images simply exported from LR5.3 zero PP and all handheld.

I had the camera on TAV and left the aperture wide open and pushed the shutter to 1/400
