The Kooks, Hull City Hall

First gig of the gig season after a very busy festival summer, good to shoot indoors, but then that brings the problem of indoor lighting & narrow photo pits. I was the only photographer present for this show so had free reign of the pit.

The stage had a walk way assembled all along the front of the stage which did not enable any photography of the other band members, I think the stage set up was more suitable for an arena show, alas The City Hall I not an arena sized venue...

Lighting was once again dreaded LED, but the K-5 & the GX20 did well under the conditions. I made the mistake though of using the 50-135mm on the k-5 when I should have used the Tamron as the GX20 focussing truggled compared to the k-5 & I used the 17-50mm focal length more. However my best shot was with the k-5, first image below...

That first one is exceptionally good. I can't imagine how I'd go about photographing subjects like these.

(Love "The Kooks", by the way.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, that first shot was also the very last shot I took...

I walked out the pit thinking I had nothing to show, when I got home I was really pleased with the shots I did end up with...

Rather like no.2 with the hands stretching into the light.
