The Building Worker Memorial #28

This monument can be overlooked, as it stands adjacent to the road and a bus-stop. It's not exactly a place befitting a monument really. Many times I have walked passed without noticing it. So now I thought I would have a go at photographing it.

He looks on towards Trinity House which is currently undergoing renovation and building work.

I quite like the picture but I personally think it would look better as a square cropped from the bottom - the empty branches at the top make a good frame but there's nothing to see in their upper branches that grabs me.

Is it a memorial to a specific building worker or just builders in general btw?

Hefty, I was thinking the exact same thing. I had been thinking about doing it, but i'm a sucker for foliage and trees in the city really. Thanks for mentioning it.

It is a monument to builder's in general, it's quite a new and plain looking figure as far as statues look, in the city.

The square crop is a much better image in this case. I know what you mean about branches and foliage but it just didn't work on this occasion.

I like branches a lot but the square crop has my vote. The statue was lost in the first version but not in the second.

It always surprises me how a small crop can change an image so much.

Aye, the square is the finished item. The tree details caught my eye as well as there seems to be some horizontal branch lines there. just slightly different to the normal or expected branch directions.
