Testing an smc F 70-210mm

When I enquired about affordable lenses for my new K1ii Forum member davidwozhere recommended I look for an smc F 70-210. Well, I found one and it arrived this week. Before putting it to work on the K1ii I thought I'd first give it a test on my trusty K50 and the shots below were taken today.

They were all taken hand held using TAv at 1/250s with the first 5 on f/5.6 and the last 2 stopped down to f/8.
These are all out of the camera jpg with no PP except the size reduced for posting.

Several of the close up shots were right on the limit of minimum focus distance, so I took the shot of the top of a beech tree to check on long distance shots.

All C&C welcome

Clearly better stopped down. Doesn't look so bad for what you paid for it!
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks, David.
Yes, f/5.6 is wide open at the long end so it was a tough test.
When the sun returns I'll try some more shots at f/8 and f/11

This particular lens has always been one of my favourites in this range - the quality can be superb, but as you've demonstrated it needs to be stopped down a bit to reach its potential. It's also quite a compact lens (compared to the A 70-210 for example) if not a little heavy for its size.

Nice find
