I went out into Brentwood HIgh Street and photographed the 'Haunted Pub' the Swan -- it has fine detail and is at about 35 feet away across the main road . I used my renovated1961 Asahi Pentax S3, film was 2007 dated Fuji Across 100 processed in my 'Home-Made' Microphen 1+3 for 12 mins @ 20oC and all were at f1.8 -- I set the f1.4 lens manually to f1.8 but that is a 50mm and others are 55mm-- all were at 1.500th second

Actually Peter I amawaiting delivery of my first film camera. Spotmatic 11 with a tak 55f(2).
I am looking at film choices and it is bewildering . Are you able to recommend a film?
And how do you find the Agfa photo Vistaplus.

These all look good, Peter - amazing for such a wide aperture. I love the 55mm Takumars, I should use mine more.

Nadeem - Fuji Acros (as Peter has used here) is wonderful stuff, but oh so expensive these days. I'd recommend Ilford FP4+ as an alternative, also a really great B&W 100-ish ISO film.

Agfa Vista Plus 200 is OK but nothing special. I'd recommend Kodak Gold 200 or Portra 160 for a better film around the same speed. Fuji Pro 400H is also fantastic but, Like Acros, has gone up in price recently.

I have used that 'Agfa Vista' which you used to be able to get for £1 a roll in Poundland shops but it has all GONE here in Brentwood -- I find it is very good -- fine grained -- nothing wrong with it at all -- it's the processing that gives the 'Bad Results' that some people complain about -- Brentwood BOOTS is excellent for C41 processing -- Bill in there KNOWS photography and has a customer who comes all the way from Whitstable in Kent ! ( I just WALK there -- )
