Teleplus mc7 2x macro converter question

Hello Darren, I can answer the first question, but not the second one. The focal length is important because the camera adjusts the shake reduction mechanism to cope with different focal lengths. If you fit a 2x converter to a 100mm lens, you effectively have a 200mm lens, so you should enter 200mm as the focal length.
Regarding the numbers, I don't have the macro focussing version, but there must be someone on here who can help you?
Regards
David

Thank you David.
When fitted to my da 55 I don't have the option of 110mm so am I better off choosing 120 or 100mm ?
Thanks.

Sorry, just thought of another scenario.
If I attach to my 60-250 lens then I presume I choose 500mm?
Thanks again.

Your further questions are more difficult because you can use a zoom at any focal length between the minimum and maximum, so you would have to make your own judgement based on where in the zoom range you planned to use it at that point in time. You will find however that 2x Teleconverters generally work much better when attached to a prime lens rather than a zoom.

Darren, regarding the numbers - I have recently got a Vivitar 2x macro converter and it also has green and white numbers. They refer to the magnification when using it with a 50mm standard prime lens - white for when the lens is set to infinity, green for when the lens is set to its closest focus distance of 45cm. What happens in-between, or when a different lens is used, I have no idea, sorry!

Hi Philip, thanks for that. I've just had a play with it and that seems to make sense. Are you able to select the focus type? I know it's manual focus only, but I don't seem to be able to change the focus area from spot focus. I assume this is normal with a manual focus converter?

Forget that last question, I've just found the answer. I now believe this is normal .

1. When I switch the camera on it asks for the focal length. Is this the focal length of the lens attached to the converter or the combined length ie 2x the length of the lens attached.
2. There are a series of numbers around the focus ring. One scale written in white and the other in green. What do these numbers refer to? And how do I use them for setting up?
I hope the 2nd question makes sense.
Cheers, Darren
